The body composition monitor BF 511 by Omron Healthcare is anything but an ordinary body-fat scale. This balance can be individually and easily programmed for 4 persons + 1 guest. By means of the 8-sensor-system (2 per hand and foot) minor electric currents are led through the body, which are neither harmful nor perceivable but enable further measurements besides the basic weight.

Measured are: BMI, visceral body fat, body fat percentage, skeletal muscles and the resting metabolism.

The resting metabolism (measured in kcal) serves, similar to the BMI, the control of one’s weight. While the BMI solely shows if the weight lies within the general standard, the resting metabolism indicates the daily calorie consumption.
