Ergo White Nights Marathon 2013 – Even the Sun Doesn’t Want to Miss That
St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But the Russian metropolis doesn’t only offer splendid scenery; also sport fans can expect a special highlight. On June 30th 2013, thousands of runners and enthusiastic spectators will be part of the Ergo White Nights Marathon.
Besides the celebrating athletes and fans, the nature also celebrates and shows a particularly lovely side. In summer, St. Petersburg is illuminated by the White Nights. This natural phenomenon is caused by St. Petersburg’s very northerly geographical location: at 59 degrees 57′ North. From late May to early July, there is only a brief period when the sun sets, which creates no total darkness, but a dim light on the streets at night.
For centuries, St. Petersburg has been enchanting locals and visitors. Russia’s second biggest city attracts people like a magnet – especially during the White Nights, when a breeze of mysticism and romanticism covers the city. People stroll through the streets and along the channels, with pleasantly mild temperatures accompanying them. Perfect conditions for an unforgettable running experience!
