Jogging on the Beach – Sun, Ocean and Unforgettable Impressions

Product Information

Everybody loves holidays at the beach! Athletic holidaymakers use this opportunity for both long walks and new running units on the sandy ground. Jogging in beautiful, scenic surroundings at the ocean is a great experience for every runner. But attention: Before you get started, you have to consider a few things.

The early bird catches the worm

A lot of sun as well as hot temperatures are basic components of holidays at the beach. Therefore, you have to be careful when choosing the right time of day for your running unit. The early morning is perfect, not only because temperature and sunshine are more comfortable for practising sports, also because the beach isn’t crowded with tanning

tourists yet. So you can train better, relax and enjoy the beach feeling.

The sandy ground and its risks

Jogging on the beach means more effort than on asphalt or forest paths. The leg and feet musculature is strengthened, but it’s a tough training. Running near the water helps reducing physical overload as the ground there is more firm than at the soft, dry sand. And don’t run longer than about 20 minutes at the beginning, since your body needs some time to adjust to the sandy ground. It’s also helpful to change the direction once in a while, since straining the body in an unbalanced way for too long can cause pain and injuries on strongly-sloping beaches. If you consider those things, you’ll feel the positive effects of running on the beach for your feet, legs and joints pretty soon.

Barefoot or running shoes?

Running with bare feet on the beach is a special experience. The free feeling at the feet, the soft sand between the toes and the comfortably-massaging effect are for many joggers enough arguments to run “bottomless”. On top, the barefoot-run is additional fitness training for the feet and supports a natural movement. But those who want to avoid the risk of stepping into little stones, shells or splinters of wood and glass also run on the beach with shoes. A compromise between average running shoes and risky barefoot-runs are extra light running shoes or toe shoes.

Fitness monitoring

Also during holidays, the JogStyle should be at your side. An individual performance monitoring is even helpful while running on the beach. The small, handy running computer fits in every pocket and doesn’t take any space away in the suitcase. By providing data like distance, speed, calories and fat burned, runners reliably control their training, even while enjoying their beach holidays.
