Tips to conquer your cravings
Product Information
Everyone knows the feeling: when a food craving suddenly hits you, it is hard to resist the urge to indulge. Be it crisps, chocolate, a greasy pizza or other treats – at this point in time, you could easily scoff the lot. And the guilty conscience you are then left with never seems to stick around long enough. But what exactly are food cravings, and what can be done to conquer them?
Health professionals distinguish mental and physical cravings. Physically induced binge eating can be the result of low blood sugar. Cravings can also occur in the case of very unbalanced or radical diets. Hormonal bingeing is also common during pregnancies or the second half of the female menstrual cycle.
Mentally-induced attacks can be triggered by stress and negative emotions. The feeling of satiety is accompanied by serotonin activity, which consequently improves our mood.
Numerous tips against food cravings can be found throughout the web, from yoga to meditation methods. If you pay attention to your figure, eat healthily and regularly exercise, you can once in a while allow yourselves to indulge in a piece of chocolate or a plate of chips without feeling guilty. However if you find yourself indulging on a more regular basis, you should ask yourself if stress or irregular meals could be the cause.
You can also read though the following simple tips, to help get the better of those cravings:
The easiest way: just ignore them! After all will-power is also essential in many sports. The feeling of hunger will usually disappear after a few minutes. Discipline is a key word in the world of sports!
If this doesn´t work for you, you can also try to trick your body by sucking sweets or chewing gum.
Eating healthy food such as fruit and raw vegetables also seems to help: Eat a banana, a few strips of pepper or munch on
a carrot, and at the same time you’ll be doing something good for your health.
Even healthy snacks such as muesli, a small salad or yogurt will satisfy the cravings.
Important: Do not eat “low-fat“ food to get rid of the cravings, the will only increase your appetite.
Instead of eating, drink a lot: tea or water will fill your stomach.
