The principle of supercompensation
Product Information
For people who exercise, the regeneration period that follows is even more important, than the training itself. But it is also a point of discussion, since there are a lot of opinions on the subject. People, who exercise regularly, can increase their performance quickly. The trick is to find out, how much rest our own body needs to achieve supercompensation. A personal training programme, created with a trainer, can be a good support to figure out your exact point of recovery.
After training or competitions, the body is depleted, the energy reserves are exhausted and the muscles have been stressed. Therefore, regeneration is possibly the most important aspect of a training program. During this recovery time, the body’s internal balance, the homeostasis, restores and provides extra energy for a certain period of time, to rebuild the muscles beyond their previous state. This temporary increase in power is called supercompensation. To use this method efficiently, different factors are important: intensity and duration of exercise, time of regeneration, physical condition and age of the athlete. When you start exercising again too soon, you risk overtraining and will not be able to reap the benefits of your recent training. But since the energy can become lost after 3 days, it is important to find the exact point of recovery in order to reasonably use this extra energy for your next training session.
